Checklist - Double check the following
Try to get there 30 minutes before. Introduce yourself to the contact(s) at the starting point. Your goal is to start on time as much as possible. Spend the time that is comfortable for you doing intros whether that is 2 minutes or 6.
From here on out your job is to:
- You have the link to the program (keep a backup on your phone). Start with your phone charged, gas in car, and have a bottle of water with you. Hydrate!
- Jason's number - 816.679.2474. We will have a group text to help one another (parking tips, a certain shop went short or long).
Try to get there 30 minutes before. Introduce yourself to the contact(s) at the starting point. Your goal is to start on time as much as possible. Spend the time that is comfortable for you doing intros whether that is 2 minutes or 6.
- I introduce myself and let them know I’ll be their guide / with them the whole route.
- This is a safe and fun place to learn and explore. We encourage questions and there aren’t any bad questions, so ask away. Same with samples - if there are extras there’s no judgment from us, so have more than one.
- What to expect on a Crawl.
- **You do not need to share your experience / years with the Crawl unless you feel like it helps.
- Lastly do something fun like 1) Who here are first time Crawlers? 2) Who has waited to have their first coffee for this event? 3) Who traveled the furthest to be here?
From here on out your job is to:
- Have fun with it.
- Try to keep people on time as much as possible.
- Get a head count often to make sure everyone is there.
- Give your group parking tips before leaving and bathroom pointers (be kind to your bladder).
- Take assigned social media notes/pics. See below.
- Deliver the shop gift bags to the designated spots on your route. See below.
- Feel free to cover more details that you’d like outside the 3ish min intros of your route, and dive into more intimate conversations along the route.
- Get a head count before leaving your first stop and try to start each stop within 5 minutes of the designated time. There are some shops that run short and you can use that to catch up if needed.
- Think about where you are headed next before you leave (direction, parking, etc.).
- I try to say hello to the presenter real quick when I arrive. I’ll remind them we’re here until X:XX. Often others beat me there, and that’s ok. It’ll be a natural flow for you.
- I try to give each stop a 5 minute head’s up before we need to leave.
- I point out where bathrooms are to your group. Maybe look around and scope them out and mention this during any silence.
- Time between shops should be enough, but some people are slower than others. We have more overall time in between stops for routes this year.
- Have a list of questions in mind to ask, but here are some reliable ones.
- Ask who waited for the Crawl to have your first cup of coffee for the day?
- Which shops do you frequent in town - any new to you on this route? How many are from out of town - how far did you travel to attend, etc?
- What do you love about the local coffee scene? What did you think of the last stop, or even other Crawls?
- How do you brew at home, or better yet what are your hesitations of brewing say a pourover at home?
- Has this time during COVID changed your coffee habits at all?
- Each one of us are assigned a few shops/stops on our routes. What I need from you for each place you are assigned is: 2 decent pics along with 2 sentences capturing some highlights - who served what, any specific or unique details, history or info on place that is unique, interesting sound bite that was presented, etc. Some places will have a lot of info so try to pick a portion of that.
- Text that to me for each assigned place OR right after your route, ideally before 3pm.
- You can post stories to the Crawl IG page. I'll share that password with you before the Crawl.

Also, just so you know, we'll be sampling out something delicious we've worked up and are putting the final touches on - an espresso and elderflower tonic with a touch of rosemary. First time on Crawl.

Blue highlighted stops are ones we need to cover for social media and thank you gift bag drop off.
Social media example for Instagram - Name of barista greeted us with a presentation on their shop's history and how they went from a shop to roasting their own beans. We sampled a new single origin from them - a Peru natural process. This was brewed on a Chemex for us.
