I visit over 300 coffee and tea shops around the country a year, and my background studying retail and consumer behavior started professionally before I got into specialty coffee in 2004. My degree is in graphic design, and that path took me on a journey from St. Louis, Richmond, VA, and New York crossing over from design projects to marketing overseeing how design and customer experience aids in buying decisions. My experience covered a wide range of the spectrum from having clients for band festivals with headliners like G. Love and The Wailers to my stint in NYC with Victoria's Secret (Beauty) creating packaging that landed in retail shops across North America. Yeah, I really had that job. Those experiences built a foundation that has helped give me the tools to observe how consumers react to products, engage with customer service, and how both sides of the bar react to situations.
It's time to use this experience, and knowledge from 7+ years of Caffeine Crawls, 13 total years in specialty coffee, and a natural love of ending up in local coffee shops even when I'm not suppose to be working.
