Cocoa Dolce Chocolates - Wichita, Kansas
Cocoa Dolce Chocolates - Wichita, Kansas
Hosted on Caffeine Crawl for the first time recently for the Summere Here & There campaign. They have locations in Wichita and Las Vegas in the Fontainebleau Hotel. Cocoa Dolce isn't just a chocolate shop—it's home to one of Kansas' premier chocolate lounges, where you can sip espresso, enjoy handcrafted pastries, and even watch chocolatiers create artisan chocolates through viewing windows at their downtown headquarters. Every chocolate is handcrafted locally in Wichita using traditional techniques and premium Belgian chocolate.
Fun facts: People have been garnishing drinks for thousands of years. In Ancient civilizations (3000 BCE–500 CE): Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans often added herbs, flowers, spices, honey, and fruit to wine. These weren't just for looks—they masked flaws in the wine, added flavor, and were sometimes believed to have medicinal benefits.

Course Coffee Roasters - St. Charles, Missouri
Course Coffee Roasters - St. Charles, Missouri
Has not hosted on a Caffeine Crawl yet, as we haven't held an even in the St. Louis area since Thanksgiving weekend of 2020. The founders met while working in coffee, bonded over travel and specialty coffee, and eventually moved from Pennsylvania and Florida to St. Charles to build Course Coffee Roasters. Being just off St. Charles' Main Street was intentional—they wanted to become one of those places people are excited to discover. They love local collaborations. You'll often find pastries from Mr. Meowski's Sourdough, coffee mead collaborations with Mead Hall, and even canned single-origin cold brew made with local partners.
Fun facts: Lemons have been cultivated around the Mediterranean for over 1,000 years, while poppy seeds have been used in cooking for thousands of years, dating back to ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome. The pairing itself is much newer, but both ingredients have deep culinary roots. While the flavor combination has European roots, lemon poppy seed muffins and loaf cakes became café staples in the United States during the late 20th century, helping turn it into one of the most recognizable bakery flavors alongside blueberry and banana nut.

Dundee Double Shot - Omaha, Nebraska
Dundee Double Shot - Omaha, Nebraska
The shop opened in 2014 with a simple goal: become a neighborhood gathering place. DDS has hosted on many Omaha Caffeine Crawls, which is our next event! Owners Connie and Mike Lang wanted to be the familiar faces behind the bar, creating a place where regulars, visitors, coworkers, and even dogs all feel welcome. It sits in one of Dundee's historic commercial buildings. Even more interesting, local historians trace this location to the former Dundee Delicatessen, part of a bakery and deli that served the neighborhood more than a century ago. So grabbing coffee here means enjoying a space that has been feeding the neighborhood in one form or another for generations.
Fun facts: Long before it was a soda, people brewed drinks from roots, bark, herbs, and berries for their perceived medicinal benefits. Indigenous peoples used plants like sassafras for teas and remedies, and European settlers adapted similar herbal recipes into early root-based beverages. Root beer was originally closer to beer In the 1700s and 1800s, “root beer” was often a lightly fermented beverage made with roots, spices, sugar, and yeast. It had a small amount of alcohol—similar to other “small beers” of the time. Families drank it because it was safer than some water sources and was considered nourishing. Charles Hires helped make it famous In 1876, Philadelphia pharmacist Charles Hires introduced a commercial root beer at the U.S. Centennial Exposition. His bottled and powdered versions helped turn root beer from a homemade recipe into a national drink.

The House Food and Tap - St. Joseph, Minnesota
The House Food and Tap - St. Joseph, Minnesota
It’s a “restaurant incubator” disguised as a food hall The House isn’t just one kitchen with one menu—it was designed as a place where multiple food concepts and chefs can share space, test ideas, and build their brands. Their own description is that it’s “Joetown in food form”—a reflection of the community’s many flavors and stories. The concept lets groups mix and match instead of everyone ordering the same thing. You might have one person eating pizza, another grabbing a burger, another choosing a Hawaiian-inspired dish, and everyone still sits together. The House features a 30-tap self-pour wall, which changes the way people interact with drinks. Instead of waiting for a server or bartender, guests can explore and sample at their own pace. Obviously, we haven't been able to host an event in this town, but Spyhouse, their roaster, has hosted on Minneapolis Caffeine Crawls.
Fun facts: St. Joseph is home to the College of Saint Benedict, which gives the community a unique mix of longtime Minnesota traditions and a younger, more creative energy. That helps explain why a place like The House—with craft food, coffee, and shared experiences—fits naturally there. St. Joseph sits near the St. Cloud area but has its own personality—more walkable, historic, and neighborhood-oriented. It’s the kind of place where people still know their barista, their baker, and their favorite lunch spot.

Jersey Java and Tea Company - Haddonfield, New Jersey
Jersey Java and Tea Company - Haddonfield, New Jersey
The plan is to have this shop be a stop on our first Caffeine Crawl in New Jersey. We are looking at a late November kickoff to our Here & There fall and winter campaign. Their identity is built around knowing customers, local relationships, and creating a “third place” between home and work. Their own story emphasizes being a neighborhood gathering spot where regulars become part of the fabric of the café.Beyond espresso drinks and tea, Jersey Java became known for its baked goods—especially quiches, scones, and pastries. The bakery side eventually grew into a separate identity called Quiche & Tell, born from customers wanting more of their homemade food. It matches Haddonfield’s old-school charm Haddonfield itself is one of South Jersey’s historic towns, founded around the early 1700s and shaped by Quaker roots, colonial commerce, and its location along important travel routes between South Jersey and Philadelphia.
Fun facts: In 1858, a nearly complete dinosaur skeleton was discovered in Haddonfield marl pits. It was named Hadrosaurus foulkii and became one of the most important dinosaur discoveries in history because it helped prove dinosaurs were a distinct group of extinct reptiles. During the Revolutionary War, the Indian King Tavern became a meeting place for the New Jersey Assembly. In 1777, lawmakers met there, officially moved away from the language of being a British colony, and adopted the Great Seal of New Jersey.

Tenfold Coffee - Houston, Texas
Tenfold Coffee - Houston, Texas
Co-founder Jacob Ibarra grew up in Houston but spent years working in Costa Rica, Seattle, Australia, and Burundi, building expertise in sourcing, roasting, and quality control. He returned to Houston to bring world-class specialty coffee knowledge back to his hometown. One of Tenfold's coolest features is that the café, roastery, and training lab are all visible from one another. Customers can literally watch coffee being roasted while ordering a drink or peek into brewing classes taking place next door. Tenfold intentionally limits the number of coffee-producing countries it sources from so it can build deeper, longer-term relationships with farmers. They also support projects like coffee tree stumping in Ethiopia, which helps growers improve future harvests while providing financial stability during the recovery period. Launching in June 2020 wasn't ideal, so Tenfold leaned into community by hosting outdoor pop-ups with local businesses, bakeries, and plant shops. Those collaborations helped establish the café as a neighborhood gathering place in Houston Heights, and they've been part of the Houston Caffeine Crawls since that opening.
Fun facts: Unlike Parmesan or Pecorino, which date back centuries, mascarpone likely originated in Lombardy, Italy during the late 1500s or early 1600s. It's a "young" cheese by Italian standards. It's technically cheese... but barely Mascarpone is made by adding an acid (such as lemon juice or citric acid) to heated heavy cream, causing it to thicken. Since it isn't made with rennet like most cheeses, many people think of it as somewhere between cheese and whipped cream. Without mascarpone, there really isn't traditional tiramisu. Its creamy texture balances the espresso-soaked ladyfingers and cocoa, creating one of Italy's most iconic desserts. Coffee and mascarpone are natural companions. Its mild sweetness and richness soften espresso's bitterness, which is why it's used in tiramisu, espresso cheesecakes, and even mascarpone cold foams.

Did you make it this far? The last FUN FACT: British bartending guru Dick Bradsell is credited with revolutionizing the cocktail scene in London in the 1980s and creating the Espresso Martini cocktail. The story goes, a young model, who Bradsell claims is now world famous, sidled up to the bar and asked for something to “wake me up and f**k me up” at Fred’s Club in the late 1980s. His solution was a combination of vodka, fresh espresso, coffee liqueur and sugar, shaken into a frothy mix of bittersweet addiction. Originally called The Vodka Espresso then the Pharmaceutical Stimulant. Nexus started in a 115 year old building as a shop. Four years later, in 2021, they expanded from 1,600-square-foot and took over an adjoining corner space reaching 4,000-square-foot. This allowed them to start roasting and add a performance space.
