New for ’26 and beyond: Roaster Spotlight.
This initiative celebrates the craft of independent roasters who are deeply rooted and respected in their home markets. Building on our Caffeine Crawl partnerships, Roaster Spotlight gives us the chance to tell their story more fully, highlighting the people, process, and purpose behind the roaster, and carrying their story beyond their city to coffee lovers across the country.

A few of the many current coffees from Carrboro Coffee Roasters to highlight. The 2025 Mexico Cup of Excellence National winner is one of those! Finca Xoxohuico is managed by Gilberto Manzano Cabrera, a 28-year-old coffee producer. This farm in Veracruz is a testament to the power of family farming traditions and sustainable practices.

Carrboro Coffee Roasters just hosted on the NC Crawl last weekend. Their focus centered around Cup of Excellence coffees, their "Direct Relationship" program, and so many details related to the farmers - they travel the world, often!
This is our fav we picked up and are currently drinking.
https://shopcarrborocoffee.com/collections/coffee/products/luis-alberto-balladarez-finca-un-regalo-de-dios-honey-java
For the #CAFFEINECRAWL we started inside Carrboro’s main roasting facility where we had an exercise in cupping coffees. Scott presented on Farmer Direct Relationship and the COE trips and judging he has taken part in. That information and tips were shared with us from both him and Lane when we tasted 6 different unbelievable coffees. Some of the fun details shared included how generational farming has changed, how COE has a global grading system that keeps scoring and rating coffees unified no matter what country is participating. The last slide has what we tasted it on the table. We started our coffee tasting journey by enjoying an A.C.E ‘25 winning coffee from Mexico - Gilberto Manza Cabrera they had brewed up.

Not Your Average Joe is partnering with Yukon Public Schools to launch a unique on-campus coffee shop that is staffed by district students.
Organizers say the partnership provides students of all abilities with real-world job experience in an accessible, supportive, and encouraging environment.
“We’re not just opening a coffee shop, we’re changing expectations,” said Kyle Parker, Vice President of Not Your Average Joe. “As a parent of a child on the autism spectrum, this work is deeply personal to me. I’ve seen how often doors are closed before our kids ever get a chance to prove what they can do. This partnership with Yukon Public Schools is about opening those doors, creating real opportunities and showing our students, and our community, what’s possible when we believe in their ability, not their limitations.”

Thou Mayest believes coffee should create conversations and instigate creativity — that what starts at the cupping table can lead to new ideas, shared experiences, and meaningful action.
The name “Thou Mayest” comes from East of Eden and translates to “the way is open.” It’s a call to responsibility — to the city they serve, to the products they craft, and to the global supply chain behind every bean.
They roast small batch in Kansas City with a commitment to excellence, transparency, and honoring the unique expression of each origin.
Coffee is a culinary art form.
Their cafés are community spaces.
And every cup is part of a larger journey.
The way is open.
Thou Mayest doesn’t just roast in Kansas City — they gather across the metro.
📍 River Market
📍 Plaza
📍 Shawnee
📍 Overland Park
📍 Liberty
Their cafés serve as community spaces for gathering and creative work in the KC metro. They have shops in some pretty amazing spaces - River Quay in the River Market, Cafe Equinox inside Family Tree Nursery in Shawnee, Overland Park, and Liberty, and inside the Bloch Building at the The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
Production is craft. Cafés are participation.
If you’re in KC, there’s likely a Thou Mayest near you.
Want to taste coffee the way Thou Mayest does KC? Once a month, they open their production floor for an industry-style cupping and roastery tour. Side-by-side evaluation. Real conversation about structure and development. The same table their roasting team uses weekly.
Third Friday of each month / $30
This is for the curious.

Impact at Talitha takes more than one shape. It starts with creating meaningful employment, expands through education and training, and continues by supporting long-term growth beyond the café walls. This work is designed to meet people where they are, offering skills, experience, and resources that help build confidence and open future possibilities.
Coffee is the starting point, but the impact reaches much further, shaped by intention, care, and a commitment to doing the work well.

We love seeing more shops incorporate healthy options alongside their coffee. Talitha Coffee and their Brazilian "Swole Berry" Acai Bowl 💪🏽 is packed with a pickup to match the caffeine punch of their popular sig blend, Arise!
Talitha was built with a clear purpose: using coffee to create real opportunity.
That purpose shows up in more than one place. Today, Talitha calls three San Diego neighborhoods home: Bankers Hill, Liberty Public Market, and Carlsbad.
Each space carries the same heart but reflects its own local rhythm and community.
Most days, you’ll find the biggest buzz at Liberty Public Market, our most visited location, tucked inside one of San Diego’s most vibrant gathering spots.
Behind the counter, it might look like: a classic latte (our most-loved drink), a Butterscotch Baby (our trending favorite), or a matcha for those skipping coffee.
It might be a warm cinnamon roll, or the breakfast sandwich that regulars come back for again and again.
But underneath every order is the same foundation: meaningful work, steady opportunity, and a commitment to doing coffee well.
At Talitha, coffee isn’t just something you grab on the way. It’s something that opens doors.

How many locations, and how are they different? Talitha has three San Diego locations: Inside historic Liberty Station - Liberty Public Market location is a staple in the food / shopping hall, Bankers Hill opened in last 2025 and is nested alongside Balboa Park, and the Clairemont location opened last summer and is connected to the Coffee Training Institute.
Parking tips at these places: Bankers Hill - Paid street parking. However a block a way on 3rd Ave. there are usually free street parking spots. Clairemont - Free parking lot! and the LPM has a free parking lot.
